PostboxMap.co.uk is built on respect, accuracy, and collaboration. We welcome contributors from all backgrounds who share our passion for documenting UK postboxes.
- Respect: Treat all community members with kindness and respect
- Accuracy: Provide accurate information and verify details when possible
- Collaboration: Work together to improve the map and help others
- Integrity: Submit only genuine, original contributions
Submission Guidelines
✅ Do:
- Submit postboxes you have personally verified
- Provide accurate location information
- Include clear, well-lit photos when possible
- Include relevant details (reign, status, condition)
- Submit corrections for inaccurate information
- Be patient with the moderation process
❌ Don't:
- Submit duplicate postboxes already on the map
- Submit postboxes from photos found online without permission
- Submit false or misleading information
- Submit postboxes you haven't personally verified
- Spam submissions or submit multiple duplicates
- Submit inappropriate or offensive content
Comment Guidelines
When commenting on postboxes:
- Be constructive and helpful
- Share additional information or corrections
- Respect other users' contributions
- Keep comments relevant to the postbox
- No spam, advertising, or off-topic content
- No harassment, hate speech, or personal attacks
Moderation
All submissions are reviewed by moderators to ensure quality and accuracy. Moderators may:
- Approve submissions that meet our standards
- Reject submissions that are duplicates, inaccurate, or violate guidelines
- Request additional information before approval
- Edit submissions to correct minor errors
If your submission is rejected, you'll receive a reason. You can resubmit with corrections.
Becoming a Moderator
Experienced contributors can apply to become moderators. Requirements include:
- At least 10 approved postbox submissions
- At least 5 approved corrections
- Good standing in the community
- Demonstrated knowledge of postbox identification
Moderator applications are reviewed by the site owner. See our scoring page for more details.
Consequences
Violations of these guidelines may result in:
- Rejection of submissions
- Removal of comments
- Temporary or permanent account suspension
- Loss of points or rank
Serious violations (spam, harassment, fraud) may result in immediate account termination.
