@everyone Two new features are live on PostboxMap to help the community research and keep track of postboxes together.

Discussions

There is now a dedicated space to talk with other spotters. Ask for identification help, request older photos, dig into local history, or share finds and discoveries.

What you can do

  • Browse and search threads from Discussions
  • Start a thread from a postbox page or from the hub
  • Use Research needed when you are looking for photos, dates, collection plates, or subtype details
  • Link discussions to specific postboxes so context stays in one place
  • Mark a reply as the helpful answer when someone solves your question

If you have seen prompts on a postbox page (“Looking for older photos?”, “Not sure what type this is?”), those now lead straight into a new discussion.

Follow

On any postbox page you can Follow a listing to keep track of boxes you care about. When you are signed in, you receive in-app notifications when something changes, for example:

  • A new photo is added
  • A correction is approved (classification, location, historical details, and more)
  • The timeline is updated

You can follow up to 200 postboxes. Each listing shows how many people are following it.
