Where can I add postboxes?
PostboxMap accepts British-style postboxes in the UK, Ireland, Cyprus (including the British Sovereign Base Areas), and other listed regions.
Allowed regions
You can submit postboxes whose coordinates fall within one of the allowed regions. These are: the UK; Ireland; Gibraltar; Malta; Cyprus (including the British Sovereign Base Areas); Bermuda; British Virgin Islands; Cayman Islands; Montserrat; Turks and Caicos; Anguilla; Saint Helena; Ascension Island; Tristan da Cunha; Pitcairn Islands; Falkland Islands; South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands; and Hong Kong. Only British-style postboxes (with UK Royal cyphers) are in scope; we do not map modern non-British designs.
British Sovereign Base Areas (Cyprus)
Cyprus is included because British-era postboxes remain there from when the island was under British administration. The British Sovereign Base Areas (SBAs) are Akrotiri and Dhekelia, two areas on Cyprus that stayed under British jurisdiction after Cypriot independence in 1960. They have their own UK-run postal service and British-style postboxes. PostboxMap accepts submissions from anywhere on Cyprus (including the SBAs), so you can add British cypher boxes from the Republic of Cyprus or from the SBAs. If you live in or visit Cyprus and find VR, GR, E II R or other UK cyphers, please add them.
What if my location is rejected?
If you enter coordinates and see an error that the location must be within an allowed region, your point is outside the current bounds. Double-check the coordinates (lat, lng). If you believe a region with British-style postboxes should be added, contact us with details.
