Queen Victoria postboxes

Queen Victoria postboxes carry the VR royal cypher and date from 1837 to 1901. They are among the oldest surviving street furniture on the UK map. Royal cypher: Queen Victoria (VR).

Victorian pillar boxes include early hexagonal designs and the distinctive Penfold pattern. Wall boxes and lamp boxes from this reign are still found in villages, high streets and rural lanes.
