The aperture is fitted with a "Temporary" Restriction Plate to prevent syringes being deposited in the post box. They were fitted to a number of post boxes in Sheffield from July/August 2018. A small, rectangular plate is cast on the rear -it appears to read 10 11 77 - which is presumably the date the pillar box was cast.
